Signe and Jan Twardowski left Gig Harbor, Wash., on July 21 to sail to California (summer and fall), Mexico (winter), and then across the Pacific (French Polynesia, Tonga, Fiji, New Zealand, etc.) for a few years. Jan reports that he is merely the capt., however, and the commodore will make her own decision about the actual extent of the trip. Jan has just retired from Frank Russell Co. He said that he doesnt feel that old, just ready to enjoy life a lot more. Time really is the most valuable commodity. Someone warned him that everyone runs his retirement with the same level of intensity that he ran his working life, which seems true in Jans case. Moving into the 21st century, Jan has established a great website for the excursion: http://www.ravencruise.com. He can be reached at jtwardo@harbornet.com.
Tad Howard has a new position as the CFO of Kastle Systems Intl., a full-service electronic security systems and services company headquartered in Washington, DC. Tads golf game has been suffering recently, but once he finishes rehab following hip replacement surgery this August, he intends to resume his Jack Nicklaus-like swing.
Bill Stanard has retired from computing and is building wooden sailboats in Vermont. He reports that Peter Gregory is in the area at Smith College, with an endowed professorship in Eastern religion.
John Porter has been with General Atomics-Aeronautical Systems, a manufacturer of unmanned aircraft surveillance systems, for more than six years. He was recently named manager, intl. business development, which offers lots of travel and lots of opportunity.
Brett Lunger raced cars in the 1970s for a living and is now racing bikes (road cycling) for fun.
35 years ago: Star Trek premiered on NBC, Frank Sinatra married Mia Farrow, and Laker Airlines began cheap student fares to Europe.
