I caught up with Bill Paternotte at the Harvard game, and Bill described some wonderful experiences mountain climbing with his family. In 1996, Bill and his sons, Brooks and Christopher, climbed Mt. Rainier. In 1998, while on sabbatical from the investment business, Bill, his sons, and daughter Amy climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in Kenya. This took six days and covered six climatic zones as they went up. This past summer, Bill and son Brooks summitted the Grand Teton in Wyoming. Bill says, This was a different experience from the other times in that its technical (you spend the second day of the ascent doing 15 different pitches on the steep rock leading to the summit). We learned how to do this in two days of climbing school. Ive never been so scared in my life as often you are hanging off a ledge 2,000 feet up. Bill would love to hear from others who have climbed with their kids.
Ronald Schleppy Jr. started the year by retiring from Exxon after 21 years of service. A short time living a life of leisure in NYC was interrupted by a phone call from ExxonMobil, and he is now semi-retired and a part-time consultant.
Bill Richardson has recently joined Northwestern Mutual Life in White Plains, N.Y., and is working with Rob Slocum 71. Bill writes, My main focus is on long-term care insurance and estate planning. Please feel free to contact me at bill.richardson@nwfn.com if I can be of help.
Richard R. Plumridge writes that his oldest son, Andrew (Dartmouth 94), was recently married on Cape Cod. There were a few Princetonians, but we were badly outnumbered by the big green. They have returned to Luxembourg.
