Fred Chu writes that he, wife Anita, and their children had a wonderful holiday visit to NYC, where they were treated to dinner with ex-roommate Bob Lem, his wife, Leslie, plus their family. Fred and Anita also proudly presented their daughter, Melinda 03, at the Intl. Debutante Ball at the Waldorf Astoria. Melinda was escorted by younger brother David and attended by her other younger brother, little Fred.
Sandy Kramer writes from Florida that the 36 post-election days were probably the most traumatic in my life since pre-Bicker apprehension. Sandy did receive tickets to the inaugural swearing-in ceremony and attended a few of the gala receptions, including the Free Republic Inaugural Gala and Count the Silverware Ball, with orchestral entertainment provided by the sitting governor of Arkansas (Gov. Mike Huckebee) and his band.
Jim Edmondson reports that he recently participated in a mini-reunion with roommates to celebrate a visit to the Washington, DC, area by John Porter (and Johns successful early recovery from some surgery). The crowd included Joan and Phil Burstein, who drove down from Philadelphia, where Phil is working in medical programming for SmithKline; Ed Pritchett, who drove in from Durham, where he is on leave from Duke Medical and is commuting to Cincinnati working in Procter & Gambles pharmaceutical company; and DC locals Joan and Bob Cocker, Ellen Morrison (Eds widow) and her husband, John Joseph. Lee and Bill Dakin, who live in Vermont, were off visiting California, so they were forgiven for not showing up. We spent the evening lying about our golf games, comparing our numerous infirmities, bragging about our wonderful kids, reminding each other of how young we look and, despite the occasional turmoil in our lives, feeling very blessed.
