In this age of job-hopping and career switches, its nice to see that John Immerwahr has managed to have a significant and rewarding career in one location. John has been a professor at Villanova U. for 30 years and is now associate vice president for academic affairs. He has written extensively on a number of issues, education, employment, etc., in addition to his major academic subject, philosophy. John is married to Kathy Burns, who is also at Villanova as assistant vice president for student life. John has also recently sung at the Vatican with the Villanova choir and has been a Habitat for Humanity volunteer, building houses in Northern Ireland the very week of the Good Friday accord. Don has two sons, Daniel (a history major at Columbia) and Adam.
Some further news from Jan Twardowski, whom you will remember, along with his wife, Signe, decided to run away from home and cruise the world on their 64-foot cutter Raven. This winter they got as far south as Zihuatanejo, Mexico, and will continue cruising through May, when they return to San Diego for their sons wedding. Jan and Signe are planning to take off across the Pacific in Mar. 2002 and spend a few years there. In case you havent guessed, Jan says, Retirement is wonderful.
35 YEARS AGO: The Beatles gave their last British concert at Empire Pool in Wembley; the Mamas and Papas Monday, Monday hit number one; Stokely Carmichael was named chair of the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee; and Mohammed Ali KOed Henry Cooper in London.
