Two Class of 67 offspring have been accepted in the early decision process for the Princeton Class of 06. Stirling Fiss, the daughter of Dick Fiss, and Jesse Safir, the son of yours truly and Ellen Safir. While I continue to practice law to pay the tuition, Dick is contemplating retirement, after more than 20 years in the marketing consulting business.
Ritchie Geisel writes, Pam and I became the proud parents in September of a disabled cat (formerly feral) with its own web site! His story involving abuse, rescue, and rehabilitation will be documented on Animal Planet this winter.
Laurence Elias has transitioned this year from academe and practice to the biotech pharmaceutical industry in California.
Rick Orriss had an eventful year. He retired as v.p./general manager from Telcordia (evolved from Bell Labs) after 35 years and started consulting for a VC group and is now heading (as president and CEO) a new telecom startup LeapStone Systems. Rick is married to wife Linda for 33 years after meeting her at a party his senior year. They have three grown children, two grandchildren and two more grandchildren on the way.
John Funk and wife Debbie visited Vicki and Dick Sutton in Honolulu this year and had a great reunion. They timed the trip perfectly to watch the surfing competition on Pipe Line Beach, which brought back memories of the Endless Summer.
Andy Miracle moved to Miami Beach this fall, where he is the associate dean for the College of Health and Urban Affairs at Florida Intl. U. Tina, Andys wife of 33 years (and sister of Dick Satz), is working at the U. of Miami Medical School. Andys most recent book, Culture in Clinical Care, introduces health care professionals to the importance of cultural considerations.
