The most important news of the Big 35th reunion was the controversial election of Lanny Springs and Dick Prentke (photo) as class secretary for the East and West Coast editions, respectively, of PAW. After the chads were unhung, the pair barely beat out challengers Bozo the Clown and Joe Oznot for the coveted post. Send news!
Other class officers, elected by substantially wider margins, include Pres. Jack Laporte (photo), VPs Pete Safir, John Claster, Bob Grant, and Frank Strasburger, and Treas. Pete Holzer. A class executive committee was established, consisting of Laporte and former presidents Allen Adler, Bill Paternotte, and Jim Edmondson.
Adler (photo) masterfully presided over the class dinner in Madison Hall on Friday night, assisted by reunion chair Tom Amato, who will be joined at the helm of the 40th (gulp!) reunion by Bob Mayer. Adlers service and dedication to the class over the decade of his presidency have been remarkable. Galen Aoki was recognized for his contribution as class webmaster dont miss www.princeton67.com. Other members of the reunion committee included Claster, Edmondson, Holzer, Nick Kourides, Mayer, Karl Pettit, Strasburger, Ted Todd, and perennial spirit wranglers Tom and Tim Tulenko. Check the website for the class service project, headed by Edmondson.
At Friday lunch, with the assistance of AD Gary Walters, we inducted our newest honorary classmate, Tiger basketball coach John Thompson 88.
The P-rade was, well, the P-rade. We edged closer to Nassau Hall. Attendance pushed an excellent 175 classmates. Many carried Where is John Baylor? signs.
The reunion highlight remained the rowing spectacle on Saturday morning. The geriatric eight pictured here consisted of Bill Dakin, Prentke, Todd, John Davis, Dean Wanderer, Dick York, John Porter, Dave Fulton, and cox George Diehr. Spectators included John Wetzel, Pete Zeitzoff, Collin Weber and John Klein.
The real highlight, of course, was none of the above. It was seeing friends you expected or hoped to see, making and renewing acquaintances you wished you knew better, and showing your kids your freshman room. Heres to the next five years: station WOWS is on the air.
