News and notes from all over: Tony Davis is retiring from Ford after 33 years, planning to live next to a mountain in Alto, N.Mex. The irrepressible Gus Escher reports that after five years with PNC Bank, he is now handling the affairs of major governmental and non-profit entities, e.g., New Jersey and several counties therein, but his biggest prize is [the] Princeton [account]. Talk about going back!
The New York Bar has just honored Judge Sidney Stein with its Stanley Fuld award recognizing hizzoners outstanding contributions to commercial law and litigation.
After a mid-Atlantic winter like this one, its especially good to find Andy Miracle enjoying life in South Beach. He and wife Tina (nee Satz, as in her brother, Richard) have survived the collaborative effort of their just published Human Sexuality: Meeting Your Basic Needs. They are actually contemplating another joint project.
Speaking of the merits of regular exercise, Paul Schmidt is surviving in his 34th year at GM, partly by playing basketball 2-3 times a week. (He catches Tiger games on the internet and sometimes in person when business brings him East.) As a corporate controller, his take is that the current climate of competition and [of] new rules on corporate governance [is the] most intense Ive ever seen. Hence the need for regular exercise.
Here at WOWS we remember Pauls storied April 1964 near-success in electing President Goheen WABCs Principal of the Year, (no doubt with Mary Wells chart-climbing My Guy as the campaign theme song.)
