Mat Miyamoto writes under the heading Lost and Found that Aybars Gurpinar, our Turkish hero, is alive and well. He lives in Vienna as head of the engineering safety section of the International Atomic Energy Agency and recently visited Tokyo, ostensibly to meet with Japanese officials but really to pose with Mat after 37 years of separation for the picture here. Aybars then wrote me to tell me of home-and-home visits in Vienna and Berkeley with senior roomie Karl Kracklauer. Aybars and his wife, Mina, who just celebrated their Big 3-0 anniversary, are the proud parents of son Ali (26) and daughter Dilara (19). Also found by Mat is Darryl Kaneko, who now heads compliance for Deutsche Bank in Japan. Darryl wrote that he is remarried and living in Fuchu with my new wife, two stepdaughters, and a toy poodle.
Among his travels, Leonard Brillson managed to spend a day with daughter Lindsay 04, going around to her classes and watching her perform with Shere Chan. What a treat! Looking forward to seeing everyone at Reunions and graduation.
The class dinner in NYCs Pig Heaven brought together a fine mix of 67ers, including Art Bowen, Des Barry, Mark Biderman, Bob Deak, Bill Richardson, Bob Popkin, Bob Chilstrom, Frank Strasburger, Ken Logan, Al Adler, Roger Liddell, Ted Todd, Greg Hickok, Pepper Pettit, Lew Kamman, Mike Stieber, Bob Mayer, Bob Gipson, Sam Isaly, John Fisher, Reed Simmons, and Jack Laporte.
