In the words of John Sebastian, Welcome Back, and what a premiere issue we have for you! Thirty-seven years of PAW have come and a gone without a single picture of Doug James but, dear readers, that drought is now ended. At left in the photo is the redoubtable Jesse with whistle-wetter in hand flanked by Mr. Hawaii, Bob Bedell 68, on his left, then John Faggi, Phil Handy, and peripatetic Jack Laporte. All were in Florida to celebrate the ever-entrepreneurial Phils 60th. Doug continues to shape young minds in the art of English at Choate.
John Davis offers a query familiar to many 67ers: All three kids are out of college; two have jobs, and one is married. No mortgage payments left either. Is this when life begins?
John Boey notes that the graduation of son Mark 01 (summa cum laude economics) has provided another good reason to attend double reunions. Daughter Renee finishes Harvard next June. (John has no explanation other than a faint recollection that he must have told her that Princeton had gone co-ed since we left.)
Cabell Tutwilers four girls (or, rather, the four girls that own me) are doing marvelously well. Eleanor, the eldest, is a recent Middlebury graduate, Katie attends Scripps College in Claremont, Calif., and Isabelle is in high school and just starting the college process. As you all can tell, my four girls are my life. (Ed. Note: We presume girl No. 4 is wife Mary.)
I am saddened to report the death of Terry Slocum in June.
