In March of this year, Robert Orban was a corecipient of an Academy Award for scientific and technical achievement in designing Dolby Laboratories container, a signal-processing device that prevents the soundtrack from being overloaded in a Dolby stereo movie. Roberts contribution was the technology that resulted in his patent, #4,412,100, that he originally developed for broadcast applications.
Carl Behnke writes that ALPAC, his familys Pepsi Cola bottling company, was recently sold. His family has formed a new company, R.E.B. Enterprises, and is looking to find new investments. We still live in the Seattle area, but spend almost as much time in Sun Valley, Idaho, as the Handys.
Larry Serra recently visited son Chris 97 in Holder Hall as a frosh Same entry as good old WPRB! The circles close.
Kris R. Nelson reports that their winery, Unionville Vineyards, in Ringoes, N.J., is doing well. the wines are winning medals and demand is high. Everyone should visit only 15 miles from Princeton. Kriss engineering consulting firm is doing well, with offices both in the U.S. and overseas. Kriss wife, Pat, is a pilot, so she regularly flies in the right seat.
Jim Avery writes that he will be joining Bruce Speidel at a tennis camp in St. George, Utah. Jim has spent most of the past six months commuting from Boston to Regina, Saskatchewan, on a big engineering consulting project for SaskTel, the provincial telephone company.
Dick Sutton has been selected to serve on the national schools committee; I guess hes the one to write to about your talented offspring.
