The photo shows Dean Pope and Charlie Friedman (who were also high-school classmates) at Parents’ Weekend at Princeton this fall, Dean writes, “Charlie and I both have the pleasure of having just started involuntary annual giving. My son Justin is a member of the Class of ’97 and Charlie’s son Judah is the sole Mississippi representative in the Class of ’97.” Adam Friedman is the young man on the right.

Michael Moore is another parent of a member of the Class of ’97. His son Daniel is happy to be in the creative writing program, and Mike is content teaching and practicing psychoanalysis in Minneapolis, and struggling to make the change from hardball to softball in squash.

Cliff Ransom chose the name “Bubastis” as the name for his new home in St. Petersburg, Fla. The inspiration for the name came from Herodotus, referring to an assembly of Egyptians once a year at the festival of Artemis at Bubastis. At this festival, more wine is consumed than during the rest of the year, and there is great singing and dancing. Cliff writes, “in any event, out of a trip of highlights in Egypt last Christmas, I chose Bubastis as the name for the new Florida house. The place is way too large, but the site – looking westward over the ever-changing waters of Boca Ciega Bay – benefits from spectacular sunsets (compliments of Mt. Pinatubo) . . . If you come, you can take your morning coffee on the seawall as the dolphins sport right in front of you…The point is that everyone is invited: first come, first served.”
