Thanks to the efforts of Roger Liddell, our annual class dinner, held on Mar. 10 in N.Y.C., was a great success. Professor Ronald Davidson, director of the Plasma Physics Lab, spoke on the Princeton labs historic breakthrough in fusion power. Attending the dinner were Allen Adler, Tom Amato, John Armstrong, Len Bruno, Jan Buck, Stephen Crane, Bob Deak, Don Eggleton, Bob Gipson, Keith Gollust, Greg Hickok, Peter Holzer, Sam Isaly, Bob Lem, Bill Paternotte, Wil Sherk, Reed Simmons, Rich Sorota, Mike Stieber, Tim Tulenko, and James Yates.
Pictured underwater in his Tiger cap is Sam Isaly, who traveled halfway around the world to the Great Barrier Reef. Sam writes, I have never before SCUBA dived; in fact under regular conditions I cannot even swim! The divemaster at the hotel agreed to teach me, although he had never before done so with a paraplegic candidate. . . For me, the experience is quite remarkable. On land, gravity dominates my physical condition. In the sea, since I am weightless, I become reasonably mobile. I recommend the endeavor to all classmates!
Richard Davidson reports that son Christopher graduates from PU. this year. Son Scott is a junior at Harvard and a starting pitcher on the Harvard varsity baseball team.
On Jan. 29, John Torkelsen was awarded the Annual Humanitarian Award of The Arc (Association of Retarded Citizens) in Mercer County, N.J. John was selected for his support of The Arc in its community fundraising activities and its services to persons with developmental disabilities.
