This past summer, Robin and Bill King joined Ellen, Jesse (11), and Peter Safir, along with many other Princetonians and their families, for a wonderful Alumni College cruise to Greece, Turkey, Sicily, and Crete to enjoy and study The Land of Gods and Heroes. Although faculty from Harvard, Yale, and the American Museum of Natural History all participated, Princeton assistant provost Georgia Nugents lectures on Greek gods, heroes, and theater were universally recognized as the most outstanding on the trip.
As we all contemplate the need to stay fit, Josh Babad may be over the top. His wife, Marianne, writes that Josh has become an ultra runner, having participated in 32 marathons and 14 ultra-marathons (50-100-mile races). While still finding time to practice ophthalmology in Santa Cruz, Calif., this summer Josh participated in the Western States 100 Mile Run. According to Marianne, He had to quit the race only seven miles from the finish due to extreme blistering of his feet. But he did complete 93 miles. Josh and Marianne also celebrated their 23rd anniversary in June.
Jonathan Friedman writes that he had the good fortune to be a fellow at the MacDowell Colony in Peterborough, N.H., for two months last fall. He writes, It was a wonderful chance for renewal and perspective. Jonathan is entering his fourth year as dean of the School of Architecture and Design at New York Institute of Technology and is completing the second and final volume of his text, CREATION IN SPACE.
Jonathan Dyer reports that son Alex graduated Class of 95, while Dad is involved on campus with the Friends of Theatre Intime, helping with the new air conditioning system and technical booth that were recently installed.
