On St. Patricks Day, the U.S. Senate confirmed Sidney Steins appointment to be a U.S. district judge for the Southern District of New York. Sid took the oath of office on May 1. Sid writes, Along with many of our classmates, I seem to be following the rubric that says we should learn for 1/3 of our lives, earn for 1/3, and serve for 1/3.
Dag Ryen is currently the director of international and public affairs for the Council of State Governments, headquartered in Lexington, Ky. Last year Dag joined a delegation of local and state officials from the U.S. and spent three weeks in Japan studying government institutions and public administration issues.
Richard Weiss reports that hes still chairman of the math department (since 1982) at Tufts. Daughter Luisa started at Tufts as a freshman this year.
John Godfrey graduated with a BSN from Columbia Univ. School of Nursing, and has been since Sept. 1994 a special studies nurse clinician in pediatric HIV/AIDS at St. Marys Hospital for Children in Bayside, N.Y. John visits patients in Bedford Stuyvesant and East Harlem and coordinates care with doctors at several N.Y.C. hospitals through their pediatric infectious disease services, as well as performing physical exams and dealing with psycho-social problems and health teaching.
After 19 years at USC, Jim Kremer has recently moved from L.A. to Connecticut to take a new job at the shore campus of Univ. of Connecticut. Jim writes, Our goal is to build a strong undergraduate program in interdisciplinary science education, focusing on marine science.
