This photo was taken on the steps of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and shows the result of a mini-reunion organized by Dave Martin in San Francisco held on Sept. 14. Bay Area attendees included Roger Bates, Bob Berkowitz, Charles Bernstein, Mike Bewley, Hobart Birmingham, John Bowers, Arthur Fulton, Robert Grant, Martin Krasney, Dave Martin, John McWilliams, Ronald Naymark, Antonio Padial, Daniel Rubinfeld, Jeff Stallings, Brian Strunk, Larry Stupski, and John Treat. The evening included a reception at a local art gallery, a docent tour of the new San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and a private dinner. One of the highlights of the evening was ex-Nassoon Roger Bates and his barbershop quartet, Pacific Heights, serenading the group with nostalgic songs, including Old Nassau. Hopefully, other regions will take note and plan similar events as we head toward our 30th.
On Sept. 16 Doug James married Kim Bohen, whose mother, Halcy, was coed-Princetons first dean of students. The Quaker ceremony took place outdoors on a spectacular fall afternoon on Bustins Island, Maine, and was followed by a clambake and square dance. John Faggi, Phil Handy, and Dave Foster were all fortunate enough to attend the celebration.
Ritchie Geisel writes that he was sufficiently motivated by his half-century mark to train for the World Veterans Track and Field Championship, in which he competed this July in the 5000 meters and 1500 meters. This was two weeks after winning a bronze medal in the U.S. Championships 5000-meter race. It was fun to finally make it to the U.S. Olympics, at least the ones for us old guys!
