Des Barry writes that late last September while on a business trip golfing in Scotland (nice business, Des) he spied Jack Laporte and Bob Bedell 66 working equally hard on the course. Des also reports that son Todd was accepted to the Princeton Class of 2000, as was Armand Graham, son of roommate Dick Graham. According to Des, There is no doubt in either of our minds that our sons were accepted in spite of their legacy and not because of it.
Speaking of Jack Laporte, our class treasurer was just named fund manager of the year by Morningstar for his 55% return for 1995 as manager of the T. Rowe Price New Horizons Fund.
Jay Berman is still practicing cardiology (as long as recognizable medicine survives) with his same partner since 1989. Son Ben will graduate from Florida Atlantic in May. Daughter Sara is in eighth grade and Marie is in sixth.
Stoney Simons says his life has not changed much (19 years in the same house, 20 in the same job biomedical research at NIH in Bethesda, Md., and 25 years with wife Cyrena), but he will take that kind of consistency any day. Just to shake things up, however, daughter Caroline declined to join daughter Torrey 96 at PU and has enrolled at Yale.
Nick Criss is now living and working in Mexico City. He is the CEO of the Staubach Co. commercial real estate operation in Mexico (yes, that Staubach); not bad for a Spanish language dropout. Those heading south of the border can reach him at 207-6867.
