Derek Arndt e-mails that he, wife Susan, and son Thomas (12) just returned from Middletown, Conn., where daughter Jessica (19) is a sophomore at Wesleyan. Derek met up with Rob Brown, retired from the New York Housing & Dormitory Authority, and the two traveled to New York, where they saw Robs past work at Baruch College, the new project at Baruch, and the new planetarium project being run by Morse Diesel at the Museum of Natural History. Derek says he is semiretired as a general contractor, although very busy as a consultant, and finished building the largest building in Skagway, Alaska, in 1996.
After 18 years of service with the Charles Schwab Corp., Larry Stupski will retire as vice-chairman effective Jan. 1, 1998. At Schwab, Larry recently spearheaded the companys philanthropic and civic efforts, and established Schwabs School-to-Careers program, a nationally recognized example of leadership in career development for youth.
Chuck Nafziger writes that he is v.p. of a community service organization, Groundswell, N.W. The organizations concerns are parks and public lands. Chuck has designed and constructed a 30" equatorial sundial for one park the organization established and two decorative steel gates for another. Both parks are located in Seattle.
Lee Mercier reports that he and wife Bobbie had a wonderful mini-reunion in Paducah, Ky., this summer with Nancy and Bill Black. Bill entertained us with bricks, beer, and butterflies as only Bill can do. According to Lee, Bill and Nancy are about to become empty-nesters as Fowler (17) completes his senior year in high school, David is a junior at Purdue, and young Will graduated from PU in 1996.
