Doug Kelbaugh recently accepted the deanship of the College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the U. of Michigan. Although they will miss the Pacific Northwest, Michigans commitment to making the college a premier center of academic and professional programs ultimately convinced Doug and Kathleen that it was the right move. According to Doug, his package includes A rematch of the Michigan-Princeton basketball game(s) that catapulted us into the national spotlight our sophomore year and getting Bradley to switch his visiting appointment from Stanford to Ann Arbor. Any classmates thinking of a mid-late (?) career change are assured admission to the college regardless of their SAT scores. Also returning to academic life is Peter Turchi, who has returned to Ohio State after a years sabbatical in New Mexico. Peter is looking forward to spending part of the winter quarter back out in Albuquerque working for the Air Force and skiing.
Roger Liddell had a mini-reunion in Millbrook, N.Y., this past October with Sadler Poe, Bill Woodward, and Rob Brown where they viewed an example of Robs exciting concept for housing: putting traditional neighborhood homes back into existing communities. Roger writes that it is An elegant recycling of developed areas.
Jim Hillegass writes that his high point of 1997 was building a 9x14 shack half a mile from the ocean in Bolinas, Calif., for a moment of peace. Brett Lunger, always direct and to-the-point, reports that Things are good.
