Randall Earl Ohman

Randy Ohman died last July as a result of injuries he sustained in an automobile accident near Boulder, Colo. At the time he was hitchhiking from New York to Novato, Cal., his parents’ home.

Randy was born in Whittier, Cal., and attended high school in Oakland, where he was particularly active in student government activities. He continued this interest at Princeton by majoring in politics and participating as a member of Whig-Clio. He was also a member of Cloister Inn and president of the James Madison Humorous Debating Society.

After graduation Randy joined the Air Force and was eventually stationed in Turkey, where he spent his free time enjoying the culture and traveling as much as possible. After his release from active duty, he took up living at Chazy, N.Y., a country town on the northwestern shore of Lake Champlain. While in Chazy, Randy and two of his friends from the Air Force enjoyed their neighbors’ company and practiced the art of living an uncomplicated life. Randy had planned to continue a similar living style elsewhere in the U.S. or back in Turkey.

Those of us who knew Randy will remember him for his quick wit, which came out publicly at places like the James Madison debates and privately just about whenever we ran into him. His unassuming warmth and genuine sincerity will be sorely missed.

To his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Ohman, the Class extends its deepest sympathy.
