Arthur James Riggs was shot and killed, apparently in connection with a robbery, in Atlanta on Feb. 13, 1982. A third generation Princetonian, born in Dallas, on July 11, 1945, Jim came to Princeton from Lawrenceville School and roomed with Tom Amato, Keith Gollust, Mark Saunders, and Richard Weller in 37 Hall. He majored in psychology and was a member of the Woodrow Wilson Society.
At the time of his death, Jim was a business consultant and was completing his doctorate at the Krannert School of Industrial Management, Purdue Univ. He also taught at Georgia State in Atlanta.
Reflecting his lifelong appreciation of fine food and wine, at Princeton Jim assembled a group of seven student connoisseurs. He was a noted amateur cook, but his favorite sideline was writing humorous prose for the likes of the Worm Runners Digest.
Jim is survived by his parents, Arthur Jordan Riggs 37 and Virginia Holloway Riggs of Dallas; by two brothers, Keith H. and George B.; and by a sister, Mrs. John W. Freeman. To Jims family, the class expresses its deepest sympathy in this tragic and untimely loss.
