Tom & Bob’s Second Letter

March 2007

Dear Classmate:

Over 140 ‘67ers Already Committed To The 40th. Clear the Track!

Great news: Nearly 165 classmates have already either registered for the 40th or committed by e-mail or phone to attending ‘67’s 40th. February is not even over as this letter is being created, and already enthusiasm and excitement are building for the 40th, May 31 – June 3.

Classmates are reaching out to each other in unprecedented numbers. Our goal … 300 ’67 classmates to “Clear the Track” in late May and rock the P-rade, families and all.

Starting in mid-March, we’ll be posting the list of attendees on the ’67 website. Just go to www.princeton67.com, and you’ll see the list continue to grow.

Tiger Tracker Wants You!

You can help reach out to our class. We’ve got e-mail chains underway, people calling old roommates and friends. We’ve found lost classmates, renewed relationships, and uncovered some amazing life stories along the way. Why not be a part of bringing more classmates back? Want to know more? E-mail Dick Fiss or Bob Mayer. Get involved with the Tiger Tracker program as a number of your classmates have already done.

Whether you contact one or a dozen classmates, the rewards of reconnecting and communicating are coming back to us every day.

Our goal, reaching every classmate in advance of the 40th.

It’s a daunting task, but we are determined. That means if you haven’t heard from anyone yet, send Dick or Bob a note, and we’ll get back to you. Everyone needs to be included, and they will be.

Between the University’s and the Class’s efforts, we have a lot of updated information that will help you find your classmates. Just tell us who you are looking for, and we’ll get back to you promptly with all the information we have.

’67’s Generosity Continues Unabated

Your generosity toward Princeton is being reported every day by Bob Popkin and special gifts chairman John Claster. ‘67’s affection and respect for what Princeton has meant to their lives are stronger than ever as we approach the 40th.

Your Ideas Will Make The 40th The Best ’67 Reunion Ever

We want to remind everyone that we have been listening to you, especially those who have been not been back to Princeton in some time or who have only sporadically attended reunions. There really will be something for everyone at the 40th.

  • On Friday afternoon, ’67-only forums connected to your lives and times: “Using Your Gifts to Help Others”, “The Multi-Generational Family – How Do We Manage?”, and “Princeton in the Next Decade”, featuring our own ’67 trustees Dubby Wynne, Steve Oxman, and university provost Christopher Eisgruber ’83.
  • Quiet places where classmates can meet and talk with each other and their families.
  • An outstanding variety of meals, beverages and locations, including the Boathouse on Thursday, Jadwin Lobby on Friday for the class dinner, and the Grad College for Saturday with its own exclusive view of the fireworks.
  • Fabulous entertainment in the ’67 tradition, with appearances by the Nassoons and other campus groups, the Fabulous Grease Band Friday night, the Fantastic Waller Family on Saturday.

Outfits

Just a reminder that Tim Tulenko has designed a stylish new item for the 40th, a vest tailored from the ’67 railroad motif fabric.

There’s also a fresh redesign of the women’s orange scarf depicting the sheet music for Going Back to Nassau Hall. To get the outfit items, new or old, just download the order forms from the ’67 website. (Some quantities and sizes are limited.)

For those who have not been to reunions, don’t worry. The order forms make it easy to get your outfit in time for the 40th, though availability of sizes may make things tricky in a few cases. Just follow the instructions in the website’s Outfit Info sheet, and get your order in as soon as possible.

And don’t forget the free vest offer. The first 67 classmates who did not attend either the 30th or 35th reunions, and who register for the 40th, will each receive a free vest. Please be sure to note this on your outfit order form if you “qualify.”

Any questions, feel free to drop Tim an email at the address above.

The P-rade

It’s no secret that ’67’s award winning performances in the P-rade over the years have been due to the unending efforts of Tom Tulenko and his team of volunteers, not least of whom is his brother Tim.

The class won the 1945 P-rade trophy at both our 30th and 35th reunions. We’re going for the hat trick at the 40th.

Tom asks that all those who want to help with the P-rade contact him at (703) 807-5631 (office) or (202) 337-1945 (home), or bunkzoid@earthlink.net. Singers should contact Gus Escher.

What volunteers are needed?...

  • Festooners – Help decorate the trolley which masquerades as a PJ+B train car.
  • P-rade sign wranglers – Organize and manage tables where classmates create the signs they’ll carry in the P-rade.
  • Banner Wrangler – Classmate to pick up the Class of ’67 Banner at Blair Arch and hang on to it till P-rade starts.
  • Assistant Class P-rade Marshals – Very important to have four additional classmates to keep class marching along.
  • Singers – Following long tradition, Gus Escher will be aboard the PJ+B car leading a gaggle of notorious singers in the class song, which Gus assures us he is refreshing for the 40th – 8 to 12 voices needed.
  • Banner Carriers – 2 good-sized class offspring to carry the ’67 banner at the front of the class.

Tom reminds everyone …. wear comfortable shoes and don’t forget your train whistles.

Memorial Service

The class memorial service is confirmed for Friday, June 1 at 11:30 a.m. in the Common Room in Mathey Hall. The service will be led by Frank Strasburger.

Scholarships

As always, the class wants you at reunions. Since financial needs change over time, we once again have established a Reunion Scholarship Fund. All inquiries are held in the strictest confidence. Please contact Frank Strasburger or Tom Amato if you feel some financial assistance would be helpful.

Registration

Our reunion fees remain highly competitive. Those of you who have been attending our major reunions will note that we have not raised prices in 15 years.

  • Classmate ... $415
  • Spouse/Significant Other ... 275

You should have received a postcard by now stating that “Online registration is not available.” We took this step out of concern for your security.

WE WANT YOU THERE

We have had some early inquiries about the possibility of a Saturday package for classmates who have conflicts and want to attend, but cannot make it for the entire long weekend. We realize that there are conflicts that are unavoidable.

Please contact either Bob Mayer or Tom Amato at the e-mail addresses or phone numbers at the bottom of this letter, and we will try and accommodate your requests.

Most of all, we want you to come back to Old Nassau!

Have fun, make new friends, reconnect with old ones, learn something new, enjoy a few days on the campus of a great university. There are hundreds of reasons to come back for your 40th.

We’re counting on seeing you there at the end of May.
